Events: Why Do Humans Have a “Need” to Party?

It many countries, it is a generally accepted notion that music festivals, concerts, and the like are hotbeds of disease. Furthermore the people who go to them are more satisfied with life. Be that as it may, there are some ancient reasons why this is so. For instance, there’s a communicative aspect, hence a primordial, instinctive aspect; to follow rhythm. To be driven by it.

To clarify, evolutionary psychologists speculate that moving rhythmically relates to the earliest origins of man. It is thought that doing so was a way for early humans to bond. To communicate with one another. Evidently, together with what contemporary Americans refer to as “partying” is of a piece with what French sociologist Émile Durkheim called “collective effervescence.” Accordingly, it’s natural for people to start moving in a shared, directed experience. Accordingly, a current of excitement starts pulsing through them.

Additionally, the University of Montreal researcher Paul Carls writes that “This impersonal, extra-individual force, which above all else is a core element of religion, transports the individuals into a new and quite ideal realm. As has been noted, by and large, lifts them up outside of themselves, and makes them feel as if they are in contact with an extraordinary energy,” one that leads to a “high degree of collective emotional excitement or delirium” for participants. OMG, surely, at any rate, who would have thought!!
